Almost a week into the Fort Collins Coloradoan's change to Facebook only postings, and as predicted by many commentators, the Comments section is almost dead. Just look at this screen grab, and pay attention to the health-care story.

Normally, that story would have been very active (it's early, we'll see). The counts speak for themselves. So apparently the disconnect between the new management staff at the Coloradoan and the readers is very real. Hate to say it, but the readers told you so right? Maybe that's what management actually wants though, to kill the comments board, as it's not far enough to the right, or so many people believe.
Hey, I'm plenty willing to post under my real name, but not through Facebook is all.

So much for Civility via Facebook
Points: -3
So when the Coloradoan changed the posting requirements, the idea was to "increase civility in the conversation" right. That shit doesn't work, folks. Check out this exchange related to the homeless individual being shot by Fort Collins Police:
Amy, when the Coloradoan reports that the man was armed with a firearm and they found it, THEN IT WILL BE A GOOD SHOOT. But apparently ad homenim attacks are still the rule of the day at the Fort Collins Coloradoan. Maybe Amy is the type of female that can't defend herself, isn't interested in learning how, and doesn't own a firearm and therefore anything that the police do is fine, because Amy lives in fear. It's also very interesting that out of all of the Facebook posts on that page, a whole of what, five, hers is the only one without a Facebook link. Why do you live in fear, Amy? Are you perpetrating? People like you also seem to forget the guy who had two service firearms emptied into him. His dangerous weapon that necessitated his execution: A fucking flashlight!
The point of the comment is that the Coloradoan management is full of shit if they say that Facebook somehow magically creates civil conversation. The whole purpose was out people or silence them. Who do they think they are kidding…
you're calling this human being "one of the most freakish creatures I've encountered," and you're glad he got shot? This is an unfortunate event, not good news you brat. you must be a sad, sad man, or a sociopathJames Gilbert
